National Space Museum
Located in Virginia is a Smithsonian owned museum. Specifically a space museum. The National Space Museum looks like a huge air force base whenever you walk inside. The architecture is really cool and goes super well altogether. Its kind of intimidating feeling the way how everything is huge compared to human size. You do have to book an appointment and it is free. Every Smithsonian museum is free since it is provided by our nation's findings and charity to citizens. The building itself has cool tempertatures so bring a cozy jacket! The many colors of planes hanging hundreds of feet above your head, flags everywhere, etc. The atmosphere and ambience of the whole place was amazing. Not to mention, the customer service is very welcoming and makes sure you are comfortable with your personal needs and can answer any questions you may have about the planes, the historical peoples, the history, etc! The museum contains several plane models along with the history that goes with it. Theres even some from wars! My favoirte part was the rocket and astronaut parts of course. I have a passion for space and even dream to go up there and study it from my own eyes. This is the main room of the museum. When you do enter, there is a lobbey and then a long staricase down to a west-east looking hallway-room. This room has airplanes and helicopter models that go way back. It even shows how we make planes now to do this day! The room ahead is the space themed showcase room where the huge rocket is placed in the middle surronded with satellites in the air, different types of telescopes, and much other cool gadgets. I learned a lot from being here with my friends and family. You don't realise the realistic part of standing so close next to a rocket with its a hundred feet up from your head and right in your face.
After your visit is over, you can visit the lovely gift shop. I personally bought a couple cool science experiments and models for space. It is a passion of mine so I like to keep cool collections and souveniors from all kinds of space museum and shops! The prices are expensive and taxes arent that great either since it is the east coast. But, it is always worth buying a little trinket for memories sake! There are a few stories of the building other than the gift shop. Theres an engineering factory right beside where you view the rockets. You can view people working on new plane models, etc. The blueprints were really cool to learn from and look at. This might be an odd thing to review about as well but the bathrooms were also interesting! I like cool themed bathrooms that go with the building. It sorta makes it more unique and customer-friendly too! So, if you ever happen to come to DC, commit to the long drive of the most cool destination: the National Space Museum.
